The Global BC Summit is committed to organizing an event that considers environmental, social and economic sustainability throughout the planning process. By selecting responsible partners, encouraging sustainable travel and promoting resource-conscious event management, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of the Summit while providing an excellent experience for all participants.
Sustainability is a shared responsibility. Every participant, exhibitor, speaker and partner contributes to the success of these efforts.
Sustainable Travel
Choose Climate-Friendly Travel
Travel to and from the conference typically represents the largest share of an event's environmental footprint. Whenever possible, we encourage participants to choose lower-emission modes of transport.
For journeys within Germany and many neighbouring European countries, travelling by train is often the most sustainable and convenient option.

Participants arriving by air are encouraged to continue their journey into Berlin using public transportation.
Getting Around Berlin
The Global BC Summit takes place at AXICA Kongress- und Tagungszentrum, located directly next to the Brandenburg Gate in the centre of Berlin.
The venue is exceptionally well connected by public transportation and can be reached via S-Bahn, U-Bahn and bus services.

Whenever possible, we encourage participants to use public transportation, walk or cycle while travelling within Berlin.
Carbon Emissions
Despite efforts to reduce emissions, some travel-related greenhouse gas emissions are unavoidable.
Participants travelling by air are encouraged to voluntarily compensate these emissions through a recognised carbon offset programme of their choice. Many airlines also provide passengers with the option to offset emissions during the booking process.

Our Sustainability Efforts
To reduce the environmental impact of the Global BC Summit, we work with partners who share our commitment to responsible event management.
Our sustainability measures include:
- Hosting the Summit at AXICA Kongress- und Tagungszentrum, an ISO 20121-certified venue for sustainable event management.
- Operating using renewable electricity.
- Selecting a venue that is centrally located and easily accessible by public transportation.
- Working with regional service providers whenever possible.
- Providing catering with a focus on:
- vegetarian and plant-forward cuisine
- seasonal menus
- predominantly regional and local suppliers
- Providing digital conference information wherever possible to reduce paper consumption.
- Encouraging sustainable travel by promoting rail travel and the use of public transportation.
- Supporting responsible procurement and resource-conscious event management.
- Promoting waste reduction and recycling throughout the event.
How You Can Help
Every participant can help reduce the environmental impact of the Global BC Summit.
During your visit, we encourage you to:
- choose rail travel whenever practical
- use public transportation, walk or cycle within Berlin
- use digital conference information instead of printing documents
- separate waste using the recycling stations provided throughout the venue
- avoid unnecessary food waste by taking only what you intend to consume
- return any reusable conference materials where requested
- consider offsetting unavoidable flight emissions
